(UPDATE: Feb. 25, 2020): After a long search, Paws it Forward has found Maci a foster home.

After more than seven months without a family, Maci will have a place to call home until her perfect match shows up.

"After meeting multiple potential fosters, we were lucky to have an amazing foster step up just in time for Maci," said Paws it Forward.

Maci's new foster used to run a dog rescue in the Okanagan, and has the knowledge and expertise to set Maci on the right track and find her a furever home.

Paws it Forward said that Maci is already working on her crate training and anxiety.

Maci is still up for adoption, and those interested can reach out to Paws it Forward, or fill out an application online here.

(Original story: Feb. 11, 2020):

Kelowna-based rescue Paws it Forward is desperately looking for an adopter for Maci, a dog that has been in their care for far too long.

Although dogs are usually adopted out within a month or two, Maci is still without a loving home after more than seven months.

Her caretakers are looking for either a foster home, or preferably, a forever home for this sweet girl.

There are some unknowns about Maci, such as her exact age and breed. Their best guess is that she is a 5-7 year old border/terrier mix.

What they do know is that she is a happy, affectionate dog that absolutely adores people. Maci would be an excellent adventure buddy to explore the Okanagan and beyond with, as she has plenty of energy and enthusiasm.

“Maci is a sweet-natured, people loving adventurer who struggles with anxiety. To help her deal with this, she needs a calm confident leader who will make sure she has consistent exercise and mental stimulation," says Paws it Forward.

She is great with tiny humans, adults and cats. She has been receiving some training to get used to other dogs, and is making great progress. She is a smart dog, but can be a little bit stubborn at times. She would do best with someone who is experienced with dogs and will continue her training.

Maci would love a home with a fenced yard with a family that is outdoorsy and willing to take her on lots of adventures.

Maci responds really well to confident, well-balanced dogs, so she could thrive in a home with the right dog buddy.

Maci’s adoption fee is $300. Anyone interested in adopting her can fill out an application online here.
